Santa Cruz: Malaga is home

Roque Santa Cruz has described his return to Malaga as like going home and thanked the club for the chance.

Santa Cruz left Malaga for Cruz Azul in January but injuries limited his involvement and he completed a return to La Rosaleda before Monday’s transfer deadline.

“It’s always important my family feels comfortable. My children have their friends and so does my wife,” the striker said at his presentation, AS reports.

“Malaga as a place has charm, and it’s good for the children to live. Then there’s the sporting factor. I spoke to my friends here and I longed to share their experiences.

“I watched two matches on television. I saw how the stadium was against Sevilla and to come back here is a dream.

“I feel very honoured to be here and to receive this affection. I’m grateful for this opportunity. This is my home.

“Besides my injury I feel great. I’ve got to work, get ready and be the player the club needs. I hope I can help the group and help the youngsters.

“As a striker the first thing I look for is to score goals. First I want to be 100%, then fight for a place and make the competition here mean we improve even more.”
