Kranevitter ‘grateful’ to Atleti

Matias Kranevitter is ‘grateful’ for the chance to represent Atletico Madrid after he moved closer to the switch by getting his EU passport.

Mundo Deportivo reports the River Plate midfielder arrived in Madrid on Wednesday night after travelling to Naples to receive his documentation.

“I’ve come to Madrid and I’m very happy and grateful for this opportunity,” Kranevitter is quoted as saying.

He was expected to move to Atletico in January, after taking part in the Club World Cup, but reports have surfaced claiming Atleti want him in the squad now, as soon as he completes his €8m move.

“I have no idea on the subject of contracts. That’s something the clubs can arrange between them. They will know what I have to do,” he commented when asked about the situation.

“I’ve not really spoken to [Diego Simeone] but Atletico is a great team where I have friends and teammates and that makes me very excited.

“I’ve not had time to talk to them but I will in the coming days.”
