Mendilibar dismisses Eibar concerns

Jose Luis Mendilibar insists Eibar “have trained well this week and had sufficient time to prepare” for their La Liga opener against Granada on Monday.

Los Armeros' place in the top tier was only confirmed last month as Elche tried every avenue to revoke their demotion to La Segunda, but the Coach – who replaced Gaizka Garitano earlier in the summer – has dismissed concerns that his side are not ready for the big kick-off.

“We're ready to start the season. We have trained well this week and had sufficient time to prepare for the game,” he said at a Press conference.

“It would be great to start with a good result and even better with a win because we're playing against our rivals in the League, although points are always points, no matter who you play against.

“Granada have strong and quick players, but Eibar aren't thinking about their opponents.

“The most important thing is ourselves, the team. Winning gives you confidence, both individually and collectively.

“Those who start [on Monday] will have played at least two pre-season games. It's not easy for teams to use their full squads just yet, so for now we'll only stick with those who can play.”
