Bakkali ‘not at Valencia for money’

Zakaria Bakkali says it was the project he was proposed at Valencia that drew him to Mestalla, not the money on offer.

Bakkali, signed from PSV Eindhoven, added that if he was motivated by cash, he could have accepted one of a number of other offers.

“I came to Valencia due to the words of the directors and the way they treat young players,” he said, Super Deporte reports.

“There were many clubs interested in me before the transfer window opened. I was convinced I wanted to play in La Liga.

“If I’d have been looking for the money, I would have gone to play in Ukraine.

“I really like it here. The climate is magnificent and it’s not far from Morocco. Fortunately, Sofiane Feghouli and Nuno Santo speak French and help me.”
