Sevillla summer signing Steven N’Zonzi is to miss Tuesday’s UEFA Super Cup fixture against Barcelona due to a stomach bug.
AS reports the former Stoke City midfielder has contracted salmonella but was hopeful of recovering in time for the showpiece, held in Georgia.
But N’Zonzi has remained in Seville rather than fly out to meet his teammates in Tbilisi, leaving Unai Emery without his services.
The Coach has also to contend with Dani Carrico and Nico Pareja being unavailable, and Adil Rami and Timothee Kolodziejack are both doubts too.
The latter pair have had the same illness as N’Zonzi but it N’Zonzi was left in the rougher shape.
Emery will decide after Monday’s training if Rami and Kolo are ready to play a part in the tie.
