Barca appoint Roberto & Segura

Former Barcelona midfielder Roberto is the club’s new technical director and Pep Segura takes charge of the youth set-up.

Jose Maria Bartomeu, victorious in the weekend’s Presidential election, has begun forming his new-look Barca and the board have appointed Roberto as technical director responsible for the first team.

Segura, who spent nine years on the Barca coaching staff before working at Liverpool and AEK Athens, returns as director of the youth academy, Sport reports.

Ariedo Braida is retained as head of international scouting, while Carles Rexach is head of domestic scouting.

AS add that Segura will oversee Barca B and the two oldest youth categories, while Jordi Roura takes the Under-16s and below.

The identity of the Barca B Coach isn’t yet known but another former Barca midfielder, Gerard, is in contention for the post, if he can reach an agreement with TV3, for whom he works as a commentator.
