Escriba says goodbye to Elche

Fran Escriba has vowed to always support Elche as he rescinds his contract with the relegated club.

Elche were sent to the Segunda for financial reasons, a decision they are appealing, after sealing their top flight status with a finish of 13th.

Escriba is moving on, strongly linked with the vacancy at Getafe, and has held a Press conference to say goodbye to Los Illicitanos.

“Today is a day of thanks, to all the coaching staff and the employees. Without them none of this would be possible,” he began.

“I’ve had the chance to train three excellent teams and fulfil a childhood dream. I have no words for the fans. I’ve always said they’ve given me much more than I’ve given them.

“My dream is that Elche would be in the Primera, where they deserve to be. It’s been a great three seasons. As Coach and a shareholder in Elche, I want them to be in the Primera.

“I doubt I will love any other club as much as I loved it here. I don’t think I deserve all this.

“It’s not a question of the project. I believe good things can be done next season. It’s about having the strength to keep going.

“The day I signed my contract will stick with me. That was the most exciting, and the games against Almeria and Barcelona.

“Hopefully I’ll come back here one day. I’ll be supporting the club in every way possible to stay in the Primera.

“Whoever comes here will find a passionate support, city, a professional club, and they will fall in love like I did.”
