Malaga deserved a draw admits Berizzo

Eduardo Berizzo admitted opponents Malaga deserved a draw after seeing his Celta Vigo side beat the Andalusians 1-0 on Wednesday.

A late Nolito goal proved enough for the Galicians to keep their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Europa League alive, although the Argentine felt a share of the spoils would have been a fairer outcome.

“Our opponents’ defeat was unfair punishment on them and they might feel it was an unjust result,” he told a Press conference.

“It was a tight game where the chances were shared between both teams, while Darder’s effort that hit the post could have gone in their favour.

“However, the goal rewarded my players’ ambition. We needed the win and it showed. We’ve now made up three points on a direct rival and must keep winning because there are still four very tough games to go.

“We are hopeful of catching Malaga and Athletic Bilbao. There are 12 points to play for and they are both two in front of us.

“Even so, this win strengthens us, drives us towards our objectives, and we have to continue this way,” he asserted.
