Pepe points to team spirit

Pepe identified Real Madrid’s team spirit as a major factor in Wednesday night’s win over Almeria.

The 3-0 victory meant Los Blancos reduced Barcelona’s lead at the top of the table back to two points and came as Carlo Ancelotti shuffled his pack.

“To play these games you have to have a strong team spirit,” Pepe said, AS reports.

“It seemed like an easy game, playing at home. But we reacted well, with a lot of possession. These are big games.

“We played as a team and did what the Coach asked. And we won, that’s most important.

“I’m very happy for [James Rodriguez]. [Javier Hernandez] also worked hard. [James] allowed us to enjoy a beautiful goal. He was happy to score, but there’s still team spirit.

“We had chances in the first half that didn’t go in. This shirt means we keep working.

“We all have the ability to play. We’ve shown that. It’s a squad of great quality. The Coach rested some players and some were suspended, but it was important to keep going and that’s what we have done.

“We have to do our job, not look at others. That’s it until the end. This shirt requires us to work until the end.”
