Berizzo: ‘Madrid were lethal’

Celta Vigo boss Eduardo Berizzo said the reason his team lost 4-2 to Real Madrid at Balaidos on Sunday was because Carlo Ancelotti’s men were lethal.

“My team’s performance made me very happy because we remained faithful to our style of play, but they managed to hurt us,” the Argentine told a post-match Press conference.

“They were lethal as they only got into the danger zone six times and scored four goals. It was their attacking players that defined the game.

“Maybe if we’d have kept it to 1-0 a little longer they would have been a bit more desperate but it wasn’t to be.

“Defeats are never a positive thing but my team were very intense and aggressive despite the fear the quality our opponents generated.”

Berizzo said he did not want to comment on the referee’s performance after claims the Galicians should have had a penalty when Toni Kroos appeared to foul Fabian Orellana in the penalty area.

“I don’t wish to talk about the officials because for me the key moment in the match was the goal we conceded three minutes before half-time when we lost possession of the ball,” he insisted.
