Both Gareth Bale and Pepe have reported back from the international breaks with injuries ahead of Real Madrid’s game with Granada on Sunday.
The club announced via their official website that Pepe has been diagnosed with a thigh injury picked up during El Clasico, which caused him to miss Portugal’s recent internationals with Serbia and Cape Verde Islands, while Bale suffered a muscle strain during Wales’ win in Israel.
In Pepe’s case Madrid did not specify a period of recovery, although reports in Spain have it that he is likely to be absent from the Granada game and might even struggle to make the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final against cross-city rivals Atletico Madrid on April 14.
Meanwhile, the club’s medical staff are still monitoring Bale’s progress and he has been confined to working in the gym for the earlier part of this week.
