Rakitic: Barca are united

Ivan Rakitic believes Barcelona’s 5-0 win over Levante is proof the squad is united behind a common goal this season.

Lionel Messi claimed a record-breaking hat-trick while Luis Suarez and Neymar also got on the score sheet on a weekend where champions Atletico Madrid lost ground on the top two.

But Rakitic said after the trouncing of Les Granotes that he is only concerned with what Barca do, and remarked upon the squad depth at Camp Nou.

“I think we’re looking at what we can do. In general, it’s not important or we don’t need to think about what other teams are doing,” he said, Mundo Deportivo reports.

“What is important is that we see an improvement in every game. We are enjoying it and I think we’ve had a great night. We want to continue on this line.

“We have a squad of 24 players, each wanting to play their part. I think it’s also very important to look at this type of game.

“It says the team is very united and we worked together and were very strong. In the end it was a game we enjoyed. We must go on. We’re on a very positive line but a lot remains to do.

“Every player is important. We’re enjoying ourselves. But I think there is still a lot to come. Hopefully [the attack] doesn’t stop scoring and we don’t stop giving them assists.”
