Villarreal winger Denis Cheryshev praised his teammates following the Yellow Submarine’s 3-2 defeat to Barcelona on Sunday.
The 24-year-old, on a season-long loan at El Madrigal from Real Madrid, scored Villarreal’s opener at the Camp Nou and was left to rue what could have been.
“I thought we played a great game, particularly defensively, but they took the chances they created,” he told reporters post-match.
“I think playing against Barcelona forces you to defend a bit more. While we are happy with how we played we are not happy with the result.
“We are in a great run of form and playing some fantastic football, so we were a little sad.
“We lacked a bit of composure with their goals and they took advantage of our mistakes,” he lamented.
