Berizzo ‘would understand’ Celta axe

Celta Vigo boss Eduardo Berizzo says he would understand it if the club decided to sack him following Monday’s 2-1 defeat at Getafe.

The Galicians have gone 10 League games without a win, despite sitting just below half-way in the table, and look to be in freefall.

Brazilian forward Charles gave Celta an early lead at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, only for Alvaro Vazquez to net a quick-fire equaliser before Pablo Sarabia earned the hosts victory five minutes from time.

“Nobody has spoken to me but I’d understand it. Ten games without a win is too much,” the Argentine told a Press conference.

“I’m not afraid when something or another happens but this winless run has been a heavy burden.

“Against Getafe we didn’t have the mental strength to cope with adversity, although we could have drawn the game.

“However, we lacked the know-how to defend for the last five minutes and I think in every game we’ve played something has happened to us.

“Today we should not have conceded the second goal and we’ll need to find an explanation.

“Our confidence has been undermined and that’s something we must reflect on,” he lamented.
