Veteran midfielder Cani has left Villarreal for Atletico Madrid on a loan deal until the end of the season, the clubs have confirmed.
The Yellow Submarine released a brief statement on Wednesday evening announcing the transfer, with Los Colchoneros affirming the news as well.
Cani, 33, has been at El Madrigal since a 2006 move from Real Zaragoza, making more than 250 appearances for the club.
