Hristo Stoichkov has attacked the Barcelona hierarchy, claiming President Josep Maria Bartomeu ‘doesn’t know football.’
Stoichkov appeared on Onda Cero to discuss the chaos at Camp Nou after Andoni Zubizarreta was sacked as sporting director on Monday.
The former Bulgaria international also gave his thoughts on the decision to leave Lionel Messi and Neymar on the bench for the start of the defeat to Real Sociedad.
“Bartomeu isn’t a President. He’s an officer who arrived on the rebound because a wimp left,” Sport reports Stoichkov saying in relation to Sandro Rosell.
“Bartomeu only understands basketball. Football is a little thing. The blame should be on everyone who voted.
“The football base is a total disaster. No one knows how it works, who which people are responsible for making it work.
“It’s unusual that there are people working there who have no links to Barcelona. They have lost a lot of people and today ask them to come back so they can sort the problem with FIFA.
“Messi and Neymar aren’t to blame [for the controversy at Anoeta]. Whoever gave them the holiday is. Everyone has to be treated equally.
“If you get two more days of vacation and then you’re put in and you’re injured…
“They don’t know how to look after Messi. And tell me a foreign player who has not left Barca out the back door?”
