Spanish police make ultra arrests

Spanish Police made a number of arrests on Tuesday morning in relation to the death of Deportivo la Coruna fan Francisco Jose Romero.

The Riazor Blues member, known as ‘Jimmy’, died on November 30 after fighting involving over 200 ultras broke out on the morning of the game between Atletico Madrid and Depor.

According to El Pais, 30 people have been detained in Madrid, Avila and Toledo, amongst whom two are direct suspects relating to the death of Romero.

Code named operation ‘Neptuno’, the action was carried out with the aid of the Madrid Intelligence Department and the Anti-Disturbance division of the police.
