Herrera satisfied with Copa display

Las Palmas boss Paco Herrera said he was satisfied with his side’s performance in the 2-1 Copa del Rey defeat of Celta Vigo.

The Islanders took a two-goal first-half lead through Hernan and Marcelo Silva before Santi Mina pulled one back for the Primera outfit eight minutes from time.

Former Celta Coach Herrera declared himself pleased with his players, not only for the result but the impression they made.

“I liked the match. It was very competitive and what I wanted, which was for the fans to enjoy it,” he told reporters post-match.

“It was a complete display. We were good and I’m happy, while I feel proud of my team and will go home happy.

“With a little luck the result could have been different. The players and fans are enjoying it and in the end that’s what football is all about.”

However, the 61-year-old was cautious about making any predictions for the second leg.

“It’s very difficult to continue in the Cup but that’s what we’ll be trying to do and we’ll keep on fighting for it,” he promised.
