Uche hails Villarreal spirit

Ikechukwu Uche hailed Villarreal's team spirit following Sunday's 2-0 victory over Cordoba in La Liga.

The Nigerian striker had not scored in 312 minutes of football, with his last goal coming against Almeria on October 13, but he ended his drought with the clincher at Estadio Nuevo Arcangel.

"The team sought to string together a good run of results. It was very important to pick ourselves up and get out of trouble," he was quoted as saying by EFE.

"We're feeling very confident and relaxed about our next fixtures.

"The team never give up. The good thing about us is that we always work hard and fight, even when things are not going well.

"A striker always wants to score, so the goal has given me peace, but I'm not obsessed about scoring.

"The important thing is to help the team and work towards achieving the victory.

"Next up is a home match against Real [Sociedad] and we know it will be difficult, but we have our confidence back and that makes us play better.

"We are a good team and really want to get back out on the pitch."
