‘Dedication key to Madrid record’

Marcelo has hailed the 'dedication' of his Real Madrid teammates in light of their record-breaking 16th straight win.

Goals from Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale were enough to make history against Malaga, despite Roque Santa Cruz's best efforts to ruin the party, and the full-back wasted no time in praising his colleagues for their commitment to Los Blancos’ cause.

"It's always hard here, we achieved the record, but with hard work and great dedication from the team," he was quoted as saying by AS after the match.

"We ran a lot and it showed on the pitch. There are days when the ball doesn't want go in, but we scored two important goals.

"Our goal is to win every game. Personally I don't feel tired. I feel fine and so does the rest of the team.

"The team possibly get tired sometimes, but our dedication is spectacular. We're doing fine."

Marcelo then backed Madrid's stance on Michel Platini's recent comments regarding the Ballon d'Or.

"We know who has to win, the answer is more than clear, but we only speak about it when you ask us questions," he continued.

"We haven't discussed it much in the dressing room. If you ask questions, we'll answer them.

"Having said that, there are certain people who shouldn't make a comment."
