Madrid will let Khedira leave

Real Madrid are prepared to let Sami Khedira leave the club and will not offer the German midfielder a new contract.

According to Cadena SER, Madrid are upset with Khedira after he ignored the offer of an extension to his existing agreement, which expires in June 2015, when he was sidelined for five months with a cruciate ligament injury last year.

Also, the 27-year-old, signed from Stuttgart in July 2010, has fallen down the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu, having gone from undisputed starter under Jose Mourinho to fighting for a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s team behind Isco, James Rodriguez, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

Last week, Khedira commented that his agent had already begun negotiating with Los Blancos over an extension, yet it now appears that Madrid could be less interested in prolonging his stay in the Spanish capital.

Other reports in Spain, however, have it that Khedira will replace the injured Modric in the side for the game with Eibar at Ipurua on Saturday, giving him an unexpected opportunity to turn his situation around.

However, Cadena SER assert this will not influence the club’s decision.
