‘Arteta says Moyes is demanding…’

Xabi Prieto is looking forward to working under new Real Sociedad Coach David Moyes, having had the lowdown from Mikel Arteta.

Arteta played under Moyes at Everton, joining the Toffees after a short spell at Anoeta and going on to captain the Merseyside team before joining Arsenal.

Moyes was last week confirmed as the replacement for Jagoba Arrasate and takes charge of his first game this coming weekend, against Deportivo La Coruna.

Prieto believes Moyes has what it takes to succeed in Spain and has been warned of what to expect from the Gunners midfielder.

“Moyes is a Coach with a good track record. He spent 11 years at Everton and he joined a big club in Manchester United, although it didn’t go well,” La Real’s captain told Marca.

“I talked to Arteta, who spent many years with Moyes at Everton, and everything he said about him is very good.

“He said he’s very demanding, very committed to what he does and has a good relationship with his players.

“We will try to help make him comfortable and hopefully he can make the team grow.

“It’s clear that football in England is different from here but hopefully he adapts quickly and we understand the nuances he wants to give the team and, most importantly, La Real benefit from his arrival.”
