Arribas ‘can’t remember’ Levante goal

Sevilla defender Alejandro Arribas has revealed he cannot remember Levante’s equalising goal in the 1-1 draw at the weekend.

Arribas [pictured, left] was making his first League appearance of the season for Los Rojiblancos but received a blow to the head in a clash with a Levante player, an injury that led to him suffering from memory loss.

Los Granotes got back on level terms courtesy of a Victor Casadesus goal six minutes from time after Vitolo had given Sevilla the lead on the half-hour mark, although Arribas said he has no recollection of it.

“When they came on to attend to me I was feeling a little groggy and I don’t remember very much of what happened,” the former Osasuna central defender told SFC Radio’s ‘Solo el Sevilla’ programme.

“I don’t know when I collapsed or anything and I don’t recall Levante’s goal as it was after the blow to my head. I had to watch it on television later and I’ve seen the images, but I still don’t remember anything.

“I wanted to continue but the doctor thought it was best I go to hospital in case it was anything serious, although I feel okay now.”

Arribas highlighted Sevilla’s great start to the season and on a personal level was satisfied with his first La Liga game for the club, although not the result.

“We should have won. I saw the highlights later and we had the chances to have done so.

“But the points we have at the moment we would have settled for at the start of the season, because what has happened is that there are some very strong teams like Valencia, Malaga and Celta Vigo and we are all close together.

“Hopefully we can continue this good run as I think we are doing very well. It’s all very tight and I think rather than look at the table we must look at the points we’ve got, because in the end that tells you where you are.

“I was very happy with my first game and I’ve been working hard since I came here. The Coach is aware of what I can contribute, as he already knew me, and I’m always ready to help the team.

“Luckily he decided to play me and I’m pleased about that and very grateful for it,” he concluded.
