‘Almeria must learn from mistakes’

Almeria Coach Francisco wants to see his side learn from the mistakes made in the 2-0 defeat to Villarreal.

Ike Uche scored both goals and Francisco said that while he wasn’t unhappy with the performance, there is plenty for his team to work on.

“I’m not unhappy with what we did because playing against Villarreal is difficult,” he accepted, Marca reports.

“We have no choice but to continue with this attitude in coming matches.

“We tried to get three points but we knew it would be hard as Villarreal have very good players.

“It’s important we learn from our mistakes. I always want to be ambitious but every game is complicated in the Primera.”

Francisco added that while he felt the referee got a few of his decisions wrong, to blame Clos Gomez would be pointless.

“It won’t fix anything to talk about the referee,” he argued.

“He called what he saw and he didn’t mean to make mistakes. But it’s clear the second goal shouldn’t have stood [for offside], and I think there should have been a penalty on Soriano.”
