Levante boss Jose Luis Mendilibar described his team’s performance in the 1-0 win at Granada as the best so far this season.
Ruben Garcia scored the only goal of an entertaining encounter just after half-time and Mendilibar was later full of praise for the midfielder.
“He has spent the last 10 days training really well, with great concentration, and had a great match tonight. Ruben scored a brilliant goal but everyone did a fantastic job,” he told reporters.
“This was the best we have played so far, not because of the result but because we knew what we were doing on the pitch and controlled the tempo of the game.
“We prevented Granada from having any chances, although they are a team that plays direct football right up to your penalty area.
“However, we knew how to solve that problem and I now hope that this result makes us more relaxed.
“We hadn’t scored in four games and one in five is not much, but at least it gives us some points,” he observed.
