Bierhoff slams Madrid over Khedira

Oliver Bierhoff, technical director of the German Football Association, has blamed Real Madrid for Sami Khedira’s injury.

The German international has a torn thigh muscle and Madrid insist the player picked up the injury whilst training with the World Cup winners on joining up with them.

However, Bierhoff claims doctors at the Santiago Bernabeu wrongly identified the player’s problem following his 16-minute appearance in Los Blancos’ 4-2 defeat to Real Sociedad at the weekend.

“The player travelled with problems and in any case he was examined in Madrid. The doctors there didn’t consider the injury to be so dramatic.

“After that Khedira decided to go to his trusted doctor here, Muller-Wohlfarth, who diagnosed the torn muscle,” he told Bild.

Khedira was unable to play in Germany’s 4-2 defeat to Argentina on Wednesday night and is expected to be out of action for between six and eight weeks.
