Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen is on the road to recovery, but won’t be fit to face Elche tomorrow afternoon.
The Belgian defender was brought in from Arsenal a fortnight ago, but almost immediately it was revealed that he had suffered a muscle injury.
However, the club have confirmed that the centre back is now back on the training pitch, doing his own individual sessions.
Vermaelen has been training alongside fellow patient Pedro, but both are expected to be back by the end of the month.
They won’t though, be in the squad for Sunday’s League opener against Elche.
