Mario happy at Atletico

Mario Suarez has insisted he isn’t looking to leave Atletico Madrid despite talk of an approach from Napoli.

Suarez is in the United States as the champions prepare to defend the title and when asked about the Italians’ reported interest, said he had no reason to quit his current employers.

“I’m here in San Francisco and I’m working for Atletico,” AS reports the midfielder as saying.

“I have a contract with Atletico. I’m happy here, very happy. I’m on tour and there little more I can say.”

Atletico begin the season with the two legs of the Supercopa, where they meet Copa del Rey winners Real Madrid, a rematch of the Champions League final in which Los Blancos were victorious after extra time.

Mario insists however that the Champions League final won’t be on Atletico minds, only the prospect of picking up another trophy.

“The team’s goal is to fight this year for all the trophies, starting the season fighting for a major trophy like the Supercopa,” he said.

“It’s a special game but there’s no spirit of revenge. Lisbon is already forgotten. They won the Champions League and we won the League.”
