Juanfran: Atleti humble as ever

Atletico Madrid’s Juanfran says his side will approach Saturday’s Champions League final against Real Madrid with the same humility they always show.

The 29-year-old was responding to a question about comments made by Blancos defender Sergio Ramos that Atleti would start the match against their old rivals as favourites.

“I think that Sergio was trying to deceive people,” Juanfran told a Press conference. “I know him, he is one of the best players in the world.

“I have shared a dressing room with him when with the national team and I don’t think he believes what he said.

“He wants us to go into the final thinking that we are the best but that will not happen. There are no favourites, we will go into the match with the same humility as always.

“The Copa Del Rey final is an example that can explain what I’ve said. Last year it seemed that Real Madrid were better than us, but even then I said there were no favourites. We are the same team as last year but we have grown a lot. Hopefully we can get the same result as we got last year.

“We need to do the same as we have on other occasions. We must be solid, intense and play with a lot of concentration and attention to detail. Those will be the keys to winning.”
