Celta Vigo appoint Berizzo

Celta Vigo have confirmed that former defender Eduardo Berizzo will be their new Coach.

Following Luis Enrique’s departure to take over at Barcelona, the Celestes have acted quickly in naming a successor.

The 44-year-old, who spent four years at the Balaidos between 2001 and 2005, has been confirmed as the new tactician on a two-year deal.

Berizzo has enjoyed a fruitful coaching career since his retirement from playing in 2006. The Argentine was assistant for the Chile national team for three years, before moving to Estudiantes in 2011.

It’s been at Chilean side O’Higgins however, where he’s enjoying the most success – guiding them to their first ever Primera Division title in 2013-14.
