Atletico Madrid have staged an open top bus tour around the Spanish capital to celebrate their La Liga title win.
Diego Simeone’s side secured the League crown with a 1-1 draw against Barcelona at Camp Nou yesterday, their first Primera Division since 1996.
The Rojiblancos began their journey of triumph at their Vicente Calderon stadium and headed for the Neptuno fountain in the city centre – the traditional site for all their notable victories.
Thousands of Atleti fans were awaiting the arrival of their heroes at the square, with each member of the squad being announced individually and receiving their own acclaim.
The celebrations progressed long into the evening, with Argentine tactician Simeone and club captain Gabi both making speeches to the masses. They will have the chance to do it all again this time next week, should they defeat arch rivals Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
