Casilla wants Espanyol stay

Kiko Casilla has revealed his desire to remain with Espanyol and said he wants to sign a new contract with the club.

Casilla has been mentioned as a possible target for other La Liga clubs but AS reports the goalkeeper as insisting he sees his future at Cornella-El Prat.

His contract expires at the end of next season and Casilla added he doesn’t feel the need to fret over an extension.

“I’m not at all worried. I have a year on my contract and I’ll still be here for that time and hopefully even more,” he continued.

“My intention has always been to stay here because when I’ve been out and things didn’t go well, I’ve always had the support of the club.”

Espanyol meet Real Sociedad this weekend and Casilla predicted a difficult encounter but believes the stated target of Coach Javier Aguirre is in reach.

“It will be difficult but we’ve had good results there,” Casilla said.

“We will go into the game as we did against Malaga, knowing we have to work hard but with the intention of playing a good game.

“Hopefully we can get to 50 points as Aguirre suggested. We’re very close to mathematical safety but we want to present a good image.

“I think we’ve had a good season and we can’t lose that in the last five games.”
