Pepe believes the fitness of Real Madrid proved crucial in the Copa del Rey win over Barcelona, particularly for Gareth Bale’s winning goal.
Bale struck in the 85th minute, picking the ball up on the half-way line, beating Marc Bartra for pace and slotting the ball between the legs of Jose Pinto, the Barca goalkeeper.
“The finish was incredible, especially the time of it,” AS reports Pepe as saying post-match.
“We have a team doctor and a physiotherapist who provides rest and allows us to prepare for the full 90 minutes.
“We had chances to kill the game and it is an important win for us. We can celebrate with the fans.
“It’s come very quickly after the League match and we did well in the first-half when we had the ball and tried to explore between their lines.
“We managed to win but now we have the Champions League and we have to fight to win the maximum number of trophies.”
