Tata Martino admitted that he got his selection wrong on Saturday as Barcelona laboured to a win over Real Betis.

The Blaugrana beat the Verdiblancos 3-1 yesterday afternoon, but only did so thanks to two Lionel Messi strikes and an own goal.

And the Coach conceded that his rotation policy may have caused some lethargy.

“We played a very different game to the one against Atlético,” he told a Press conference.

“Wednesday’s [Champions League second leg] is decisive. When you have two extremely important games in such a short space of time, what’s left in the middle doesn’t seem so decisive.

“Perhaps I got it wrong with the rotations. Looking back over what happened, maybe I could have rested a few of the players who were involved in the Atlético game.

“We were hoping this game wouldn’t be quite as taxing as our last. We exerted a lot of energy on Tuesday.

“I watched a little of the Atlético game and it was the same for them. Today, it was the result what mattered rather than anything else.

“It wasn’t that we underestimated our rivals – Betis put in a very good game. At one point our work-rate simply stopped due to physical fatigue but it’s not something which worries the players.”
