Juanfran has said he is happy to have given the Atletico Madrid supporters a team they can be proud of.
Los Colchoneros are top of the league via the head-to-head rule, level on points with Real Madrid and a single point clear of Barcelona.
They play Granada tonight at Vicente Calderon and speaking in a video posted of Atleti’s official site, Juanfran said that the players are satisfied with the season so far, and he hopes the fans are too.
“We’re very proud of the work we’ve done. Being leaders in the League makes us happy,” the defender said.
“We know we’re depending on ourselves and hopefully we can carry on along the same lines until the end of the season.
“I’m sure the fans are very proud of their Atletico.”
Juanfran was also asked how the team are feeling ahead of the final nine games of the season.
“We’re very good, physically and mentally,” he replied.
“We’ve prepared ourselves for this period, the best part of the season, where all the teams can reach their objectives.
“Ours is to stay where we are, competing with the biggest and best teams. We’re prepared to continue.”
Juanfran added that the key behind Atletico’s success this season has been the unity of the squad.
“Atletico is about the whole team. The defence is the work of the whole team,” he continued.
“We all defend together and we all attack together. We’re happy with how we’ve done and I think the Coach is too.
“I’m very happy to receive the admiration of the fans. It’s important to me they’re happy with what I do.
“It’s been hard work for me to get where I am, starting for Atletico.
“I’ll keeping fighting every day, as if it was the last, to keep my place.”
