‘Almeria made it difficult’

Jorge Pautasso has said that Almeria made life difficult for Barcelona in Sunday’s 4-1 victory.

Barca took a two-goal lead through Alexis Sanchez and Lionel Messi before Alejandro Trujillo pulled a goal back after some slack marking from a set piece.

Late goals from Carles Puyol and Xavi Hernandez wrapped up the points and Pautasso, filling in for the banned Tata Martino, told reporters that the visitors’ approach caused problems for Barca.

“In the second half Almeria didn’t risk anything. We waited and that led us to a sense of frustration,” Pautasso told reporters.

“We know we have the default strategy but our rivals don’t risk anything and wait for us to make a move.

“We know we must continue to improve our defensive strategy. The first half was excellent.”

It was put to Pautasso that the Camp Nou crowd was restless but he denied it was the case, claiming the fans were fulsome in their backing.

“The people supported us, especially when we made the substitutions. They clapped us coming out.”

Pautasso added that Barca created plenty of chances and backed Neymar to hit his form again soon.

“We created 15 or 16 chances, we scored four but we lacked accuracy.

“The important thing is to continue creating them.

“As he plays and gets more continuity it’ll be the Neymar of the first part of the championship.”
