Javier Aguirre thought Espanyol deserved something against Villarreal, despite going down 2-1.

Goals from Bordonado and Jeremy Perbet gave the Yellow Submarine all three points at Cornelia-El Prat.

But the Coach was insistent that his men were worthy of at least a point.

“This loss is a real punishment for us,” he told a Press conference. “The players effort, their attitude and tactical work deserved something.

“I can’t blame the players for anything. Every week they try and play to their best. But this is what football is all about.”

The Mexican then explained why he had been sent off.

“The referee has told me it’s for protesting. I’m sure they have nothing against me though.

“I have a great relationship with all the officials.”
