Feghouli happy to help

Sofiane Feghouli has no complaints about being a Valencia substitute, insisting he was just happy to score in the Europa League.

Feghouli was introduced in place of Michel during Los Ches’ 2-0 win over Dynamo Kiev on Thursday, with the game, played in Cyprus due to the political unrest and violence in Kiev, goalless at that point.

The Algeria international though opened the scoring with 10 minutes to play before Eduardo Vargas added a late second to give Valencia a valuable away win.

“I was prepared to come on at any moment to help the team,” Feghouli told reporters after the match.

“When I came on, I did my best and I was fortunate to score.

“I have to carry on this way, both for myself and for the team.”

Feghouli added that Valencia expected a difficult match and were not disappointed.

“We knew it was going to be a complicated game.

“Their goalkeeper saved a lot of our chances but we’ve scored two goals and that’s welcome for the second leg.

“Obviously 2-0 is better than 1-0 but we’ll have to be careful.

“In football you never know but I hope we can win the home game too.”
