The final of the Copa del Rey between Barcelona and Real Madrid will be played on Wednesday April 16, it has been confirmed.
AS notes that the game was originally set for Sunday April 19, but following talks between the two teams and the Spanish Federation, the fixture has been brought forward.
The finalists have been given 19,350 tickets each for the game at Valencia’s Mestalla.
The date is a week before the first legs of the Champions League semi-finals and as such, should either Barca or Madrid reach that point in the tournament, they will not have League games that weekend.
Barca are scheduled to play Athletic Bilbao and Madrid were to travel to Real Valladolid but if they are in the Champions League semi-finals, those games will be played in early May instead.
Madrid have yet to play the first leg of their last 16 tie against Schalke while Barca beat Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.
