Javier Aguirre has said that the match between Espanyol and Real Betis was so poor, neither side deserved three points.
It was Betis who did take the victory thanks to a Ruben Castro brace but Aguirre told reporters after the game that he thought both teams were off the pace.
“It was a game of 0-0,” Aguirre said.
“There was no flowing football from either side.”
Aguirre did add that he got his team selection wrong but denied the League defeat came as a result of the midweek exertions against Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey.
“We could have made it 1-0 [through Stuani].
“The small details made the difference.”
Aguirre also wished luck to his Betis counterpart, Gabriel Calderon, and predicted that Betis would put up a strong fight against relegation through the rest of the season.
