A Spanish radio programme has alleged that Gareth Bale’s injury earlier in the season was caused by Alvaro Arebeloa and hidden by Madrid.
Cadena SER claimed Arbeloa was the cause of the injury that afflicted Bale in October but Madrid hid the cause of the problem due to Arbeloa’s history of accidently hurting his teammates, according to a report in Sport.
Bale suffered a ‘numb and blackened leg’ after the altercation and struggled for fitness through the autumn months.
Arbeloa was responsible for Iker Casillas’ broken hand, which kept the captain out of much of last season, when he kicked the goalkeeper during a match against Valencia.
Arbeloa took to Twitter to respond, sharing a picture of himself with Gareth Bale and writing: "Actually, I hit him with my car. But he's strong, he's still alive."
