Garrido has no problem with Valverde

Real Betis Coach Juan Carlos Garrido has rubbished suggestions he does not get along with Athletic Bilbao counterpart Ernesto Valverde.

The pair will come up against each other when their sides meet in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday and it was put to Garrido at a Press conference that there was bad blood.

“There is no relationship, neither good nor bad,” Garrido replied.

“I will greet him politely, as I do with other Coaches.”

Garrido acknowledged that his side are the underdogs in the tie but believes the League’s bottom side could cause a shock. “If we do the right things we have a chance to win,” he insisted.

Betis face a potentially vital League game against Osasuna at the weekend but Garrido doesn’t want the focus away from the Cup.

“They are two different games,” he stressed. “Tomorrow we must play at our best. I’ll have the motivation for both games.”

Garrido also feels that Betis have given a good account of themselves in their recent outings and is looking to continue that form ahead of making new signings this month.

“In the last two games we have seen an improvement.

“The intention is that signings arrive as soon as possible, but we must know how to manage the market.

“They have to help us be more competitive.”
