Former Chile international Ivan Zamorano believes Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez can continue to improve following his recent good form.
Alexis scored a hat-trick in Barcelona’s win over Elche on Saturday and Sport quotes Zamorano as crediting Coach Gerardo Martino for getting the best out of the former Udinese attacker, sentiments that echo comments recently made by Alexis.
“It shows that he has earned Martino’s trust,” Zamorano has told El Mercurio today.
“To succeed you must fight against everything but the Coach’s support always will be crucial.
“It's huge what Alexis is doing today. He is going through a great moment, his best since arriving in Spain.”
Zamorano puts Alexis’ form down to his growing stature in the Barca set-up and familiarity with the team’s tactics.
“He is more secure in their conditions. It’s not easy at a club as big as Barcelona.
“He has accommodated to the game plan of his team and seems to feel more comfortable and safe. It shows.
“Alexis has grown as a player and learned so much from his European experience. He’s become a goal scorer as a result.”
Zamorano expects Alexis to keep developing. “He has plenty of room to keep progressing and growing. He’s young and can still give more,” the former Real Madrid striker said.
