Imanol Agirretxe believes that the Basque derby could provide a show next weekend, with Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao high in the table.
Fourth place Athletic travel out to Anoeta in Week 18’s highlight fixture to face city neighbours Real, who are just a place and four points beneath them in the League table.
“In a derby often it does not matter how you arrive into it because they are special games,” Agirretxe has begun in reflection this week on the fixture.
“Whilst this year we are probably the better team, both teams are high in the standings and are playing well.
“So hopefully you will see a good show, reflected by the fact that both teams are involved up there. But we also hope that the points will stay at home.
“Winning such a game brings with it a lot of positive things. However, it will not be paramount to the table.
“For the first day back after the Christmas break you do sweat a little more. However, we are professional and we could not lose much shape inside seven days.”
