Edu Albacar has mused on Elche’s ‘maximum ambition’ in facing Barcelona, as he outlines his belief in the team’s bid against relegation.
The Valencian outfit have spent the Christmas break in lower mid-table, two points above the relegation zone and restart League action next weekend with a daunting trip to the Camp Nou.
However, as one of their defensive number has reflected today, ambition for that match and for the season objective remains high.
“Ultimately, we have to face all the teams and right now we are approaching Barcelona with the greatest ambition,” Albacar has told reporters at a Press conference.
“Our recent results [three consecutive defeats] have been the result of a bump, but we know what we are capable of and are calm.
“We know of the journey ahead and on that basis we have to continue until the end of the season. I am confident in the group that we have and that we can achieve our objective.
“We knew that this year would not see us near the top, so people should be calm and trust the team because they will respond. I believe we will be safe.
“We have the ambition to improve in 2014 [on 2013’s work] and as the Coach says, hope for the best game or the biggest goal from each of us is yet to be reached.”
