Atletico Madrid full-back Juanfran conceded that Levante were his side’s most difficult opponents at home this season.
The capital club beat the Granotes 3-2 on Saturday to leapfrog Barcelona and go top of the table.
But the Spain international admitted that it was a hard-fought win.
“It was a really difficult game and we were made to suffer,” he told AS.
“Levante are the best team to have visited the Calderon this season, but we were able to turn the game around in the end.
“They caught us off our guard with the first goal. [Levante Coach Joaquin] Caparros got his tactics spot-on throughout the game, and we had to give everything we had to leave with the three points.
“The atmosphere inside the Calderon was magnificent, it helped the team to rise again and get the victory.”
