Fran Escriba has conceded that he would have liked to have continue in the Copa, but Elche must now focus on the League.
The promoted side lost 1-0 to Villarreal this evening – 3-2 on aggregate – thanks to a second half Jeremy Perbet goal.
“This competition has forced us to rotate,” he told a Press conference. “But they did it too.
“I had hoped to carry on in this competition, but now we have to focus on staying in the League.
“I’m proud of my players and their performance.
“The idea was to keep it tight until the end and then go for it – but that wasn’t to be.”
