Espanyol boss Javier Aguirre has refused to find excuses after his team drew 0-0 with Almeria.

The Periquitos claimed a point on Sunday, but it could have been worse had Verzu converted a penalty in the first half.

“We started the game wanting to win, and we had to good chances to do so,” he told a Press conference.

“We grew into the game, but then came the penalty which deflated us. I'm not looking for excuses though.

“I think we can be happy with the effort we put in today.

“I would have liked to have got three points, but one is okay. It was an open game, so I imagine the fans were pleased.”
