Florentino Perez has insisted that everyone at Real Madrid wants Xabi Alonso to stay at the club.
The midfielder has been heavily linked with a switch away from Santiago Bernabeu when his contract expires next summer.
But the Blancos President has claimed that the club want the former Liverpool man to stay on.
“We all want him to continue here at Real Madrid. Ancelotti likes him and for me too, his renewal would be the ideal Christmas present,” Perez told reporters.
“If he continues with us next season, we’d all be delighted.”
He then commented on the season so far and whether Cristiano Ronaldo will travel to the Ballon d’Or ceremony in January.
“You have to ask Cristiano but until now, he’s always attended. And regarding whether he should win the Ballon d’Or, I’m convinced that he will because it would be a huge injustice if he didn’t as he has shown that he’s the best player in the world.
“Every year, we have to improve and we’ve brought seven new players on board, including several young players.
“Winning the 10th Champions League would be a marvellous present for all Madridistas all over the world”.
