Cani didn’t consider other offers

Ruben Garcia, ‘Cani’, has affirmed that he didn’t consider leaving Villarreal after holding successful contract negotiations.

The 32-year-old, who has been with the Yellow Submarine since 2006, was confirmed yesterday as having agreed a new three-and-a-half-year deal at El Madrigal.

Talking to reporters today on the agreement, the midfielder rejected the notion that having approached the final six months of his original deal, that he had considered offers from elsewhere.

“I did not want to listen to anyone else, I just wanted to talk to Villarreal and since then it has proven not necessary to listen to anyone else,” Cani commented at a Press conference.

“The thing I wanted was to stay in the place where I wanted to be, where it is best for me, and that is certainly Villarreal. Here I am great, I’m a ‘10’, I could not find anywhere better.

“The ambition that I have is intact and the same as the first day that I arrived at this club. I may lack the ego of previous seasons, but I am well and my idea is to contribute and to enjoy things.

“I consider myself a person of this club, I have never though about whether it would be for many years or for few.

“If I have spent a long time here then it is because I am very happy and feel part of the club. You can see that I am part of the club and I feel it.”
